About Dr. Allison

Dr. Allison began his career in healthcare as a paramedic in 1983 living and serving communities in California, Ohio, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands. After spending 15 years as a paramedic, educator and healthcare administrator he continued his dream of attending medical school.
 

After completing medical school in the Philippines, Dr. Allison returned to the United States to attend residency in Rural Family Medicine at the West Virginia University in Harpers Ferry. During residency he received additional training in emergency medicine, critical care and community health. In addition to his medical degree Dr. Allison earned a Master of Science in Community Health. He completed a Fellowship in Medical Education. He is a Certified Physician Executive and Board Certified in Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine. He has also received the excellence in Community Health Award twice-once for his work in Barangay Anoling, Albay Philippines, and once for his work in Grant County, West Virginia. 

Since completing residency Dr. Allison has experienced working in Hawaii, California and Texas as an emergency and family physician. He has also been medical director for a free clinic, hospital emergency departments, emergency medical services and has served as a Regional Medical Director, training other medical directors. He has served as faculty for the University of Hawaii, University of California-Davis, University of North Texas and most recently received appointment as faculty with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

Dr. Allison is an accomplished educator, EMS Medical Director, policy adviser and has lectured nationally and internationally, has served on local, regional, national, and other advisory boards. Coming into medicine through nontraditional pathways Dr. Allison has had many interesting and unique experiences along the way. He has acquired the unique experience of working as a physician leader for pre-hospital, in-hospital and post-acute care. This unique circumstance and his entire career have provided Dr. Allison the ability to appreciate and have a deep understanding of integrated healthcare and population health. Dr. Allison is currently licensed in four states (TX, HI, CA, WV) and a US Territory (CNMI).
